This hand knotted pile rug is made using thick and textured handspun wool pile on a wool foundation. This lovely tribal rug with was inspired by the dynamic tribal rugs of the Maghreb. Weaving for this rug takes place in the northern areas of Afghanistan, the home of the Turkmen people. Carpet weaving is perhaps the most essential and revered cultural activity for Turkmen; something which traditionally all women take part in.
