Harshang Bidjar

This hand knotted pile rug is made using natural dyes and handspun wool. The striking floating medallion with all-over harshang motifs in this rug was inspired by a 19th century Bidjar rug. Nomad Rugs tailor made this finely woven rug to our specs with around 140kpi. Weaving takes place in the northern areas of Afghanistan, the home of the Turkmen people. Carpet weaving is perhaps the most essential and revered cultural activity for Turkmen; something which traditionally all women take part in.
