This hand knotted pile rug is made using 100% natural dyes and handspun wool. This rug is woven with around 90kpi. Weaving takes place in the northern areas of Afghanistan, the home of the Turkmen people. Carpet weaving is perhaps the most essential and revered cultural activity for Turkmen; something which traditionally all women take part in. The art of weaving is reverently passed on from mother to daughter with the weaving of these rugs taking place in individual family homes. The rich green background color along with the playfully drawn trees distinguish this handsome rug. And the fact that this rug was woven without a border lend a transitional sophistication to the composition.
