This hand knotted pile tribal rug is made with all natural dyes and handspun wool. These WIDE long gallery sized runners are known as kelleh size in the trade. This rug was woven in a project whose goal is to pay homage to the art of the traditional Ersari Turkmen carpet. The principle dye sources used in this rug are madder root for red. The rich earthy red brown colors are emblematic of the Ersari people. Wonderful long staple handcarded and handspun Central Asian wool is used throughout in the wool on wool construction. A kilim end and braided wool fringe finish the look. As these carpets age they develop an incredible sheen and are easily mistaken for antique Turkman carpets. This weaving project has produced some of my all-time favorite tribal rugs. FREE Shipping and Easy Returns.
