Rex Ray Fills Nomad Rugs with Color and Design

We are so excited to be carrying Rex Ray’s stunning and fabulous carpets! Rex Ray is a San Francisco based artist and designer who is well loved for his colorful and graphically bold work. Many of his designs have a distinctive retro/modern feeling that is so in-tune with the current design.

The Samad brothers contacted Rex Ray several years ago with the proposal to create a line of rugs with his bold and graphic designs. From their conversation came nearly 30 unique and remarkable designs. And since the Samad brothers work with the very best craftsmen in India, the quality in these rugs is simply remarkable. The weave is fine and tight, the wool is strong hand spun and the colors are crisp and rich. And I can say with conviction; there is not a more distinct, bold and well crafted rug being made anywhere! The Rex Ray collection of rugs is unique and beautiful!

From afar, the rugs are bold and graphic. And as you approach, the many subtle small design details become more apparent; lines within lines, squiggles, waves, circles. All these additional designs give the feeling of a 3rd dimension to these fascinating rugs. There is a palpable texture to these carpets that is captivating. It is these small details that make these rugs truly great! The level of craft that it takes to make these rugs is very high. These rugs are only made in one place in India where the most skilled weavers are on hand to weave these rugs.
