A thick hand knotted pile carpet made with all handspun wool. This striking rug has the distinct design and colors of a classical Mamluk rug. The Mamluk Sultans (who ruled over Egypt from the 13th to the 16th century) were patrons of the arts and commissioned many fine rugs. Mamluk rugs with their unique geometric designs are equally well suited for contemporary or traditional interiors. These wider runners are referred to as kelleh or gallery runners.
