Hand knotted pile rug made with handspun wool. In Persian, gabbeh means unclipped or “in-the-raw”; an apt description for these thick, whimsical gems of tribal art. Their thick wool made for ideal insulation against the desert whose temperatures fluctuate from extreme hot and cold. All hand spun wool imported from the Zagros Mountains. This rug is a wonderful modern/tribal work of woven art! The multiple colors on this rug remind of the “crazy quilts” hence I though “crazy” gabbeh was an apt description.
