This finely hand knotted pile rug is made using 100% natural dyes and handspun wool. This rug comes from our Nooristan collection. Taking its name from the Afghan mountain province of Nooristan, this line constitutes one of the most finely woven carpets produced anywhere with all natural dyes and handspun wool. The knotting is approximately 15/15 or 225 knots per square inch. The typical carpet contains at least 13 different vegetable dye colors. The very finely handspun wool used and the extraordinary weave with a depressed warp give these carpets a subtle and refined character which must be seen up close to be fully appreciated. This wide and long dimension is known as a gallery runner or kelleh.
